Headleys Deluxe featured as the top performing 7 year old stallion in the UK throughout the entire 2022 season on the British Eventing Stat Centre Howden Way Young Horse 7 Year Old League powered by Equiratings. In his first season eventing under Italy’s Giovanni Ugolotti, Headleys Deluxe showed a convincing start to his career. Licensing with the AES in Spring 2019 before qualifying for the Burghley Young Event Horse Finals on his first ever outing, finishing 2nd at Rockingham International Horse Trials BYEH qualifier. Judges awarded a 10 for conformation and 8 of 8 for quality. This was followed by a 7th place finish at Gatcombe BYEH qualifier. Headleys Deluxe finished his first season under saddle competing at the Burghley Young Event Horse 4 year old finals, showing huge promise for the future in sport and as a breeding stallion.
As a 5 year old, 2020 saw Headleys Deluxe enter his first BE100’s, with double clear finishes in two of his three events, jumping clear cross country every time. Headleys Deluxe has shown a superb attitude towards his work, demonstrating bravery, willingness and speed cross country.
In 2021 Headleys Deluxe stepped up to Novice level and international FEI CCI 2* with ease. His attitude towards his work has been outstanding with multiple wins, top 5 placings and double clears to his name in his limited number of runs. Having stepped up successfully to CCI-S 2* level with runs at Burgham International Horse Trials and a stunning double clear at Cornbury House International Horse Trials, Osberton International and Young Horse Championships CCI-S YH2*. Headleys Deluxe finished his 2021 season at Mondial Du Lion World Championship for Young Horses in the 6 year old's CCI-L YH2*, coming 16th in a world class field of horse and rider combinations. A huge honour to be selected to represent Italy at a World Championship! Recently, Headleys Deluxe achieved Approved licensing status with the Anglo European Studbook based on his results in sport.
In 2022 Headleys Deluxe has stepped up to Intermediate level British Eventing , with a win at Farley Hall Horse Trials and multiple top ten placings. At his first run at CCI-S 3* he finished in 3rd place with a double clear on his dressage score, qualifying him for the 7 year old World Championships at Le Lion D’Angers for the second consecutive year. Headleys Deluxe finished his season at Mondial Du Lion finishing on his dressage score and jumping a phenomenal double clear in the CCI-L 3* at the FEI WBFSH 7 year old Eventing World Breeding Championship for Young Horses at Le Lion D'angers! This is an outstanding achievement for any horse, but is a true testament to Headleys Deluxe’s exceptional temperament being able to combine his training, competing and stud duties.
