Headleys Deluxe at the Stallion Event 2023
23rd January 2023
Ahead of the 2023 stud season, Headleys Deluxe and Giovanni Ugolotti will be heading to Addington Manor Equestrian Centre for the British Breeding Stallion Event 2023.
Come and see Headleys Deluxe under saddle and at the stable to meet Ralph and the team for refreshments and to answer any questions you may have.
Tickets are available online and on the door. Doors open at 09:00 with the Eventing Stallions starting at 10:30.
He will be available for fresh, chilled and frozen semen throughout 2023 in the UK, alongside being available worldwide for frozen.

Holidays and an exciting announcement!

Headleys Deluxe has returned safe, sound and happy from his trip to France for the 7 year old world championships and has enjoyed a couple of weeks in the field and hacking.
Ralph will be enjoying his holidays this year at Stallion AI Services this year as we are extremely excite to announce that in 2023 Headleys Deluxe will be available for frozen semen WORLDWIDE as a breeding stallion!
Headleys Deluxe will also be available for fresh and chilled semen throughout the breeding season for UK mare owners in 2023.
Le Lion D'Angers 7 year old Eventing World Championships
23rd October 2022
What a week! Double clear finishing on his dressage score at a World Championship!
Ralph has been out of this world all week and has tried his best from start to finish. He is a true credit to himself and all the work that Gio, super groom Charlie and the whole home team at Cranford Stud Eventing put in.
Headleys Deluxe delivered in all three phases, despite some harsh and wildly inconsistent marking from the judges in the first phase. We were touched by how many professional riders enquired about Ralph for next season.
He made light work of a tough and technical cross country course. The time was tight. The distances were long and the angles were acute. This was easily the most technical and longest course he has tackled and he finished well within the time, fresh and full of running.
The show jumping was big and square. It tested the horse's ability to shorten and lengthen and rewarded rideability. The time was tight and required strategic riding from Gio. Ralph went in to the ring fresh and delivered his best for a clear round in the time.
It was an incredibly tight championship with the lowest scores Le Lion has ever seen, so for Ralph to climb 26 places after the first phase was a fantastic result to finish in 26th place.
He now looks forward to a well deserved holiday ahead of next season.
Cornbury House International Horse Trials and the Eventing World Championships

With Headleys Deluxe selected for Le Lion D'Angers we planned to save him from running cross country this week. Ralph has the most professional attitude and is not at all spooky, so we are very lucky in that he does not need the run.
We also decided not to risk a run with Giovanni and Elliot- Duke of Champions- an 11 year old gelding also by Duke of Hearts xx, heading to Pratoni for the 2022 Eventing World Championships representing Italy next week!
The whole team at Cranford Stud Eventing work tirelessly to give our horses every opportunity in terms of individual care and management. We will be very proudly cheering on the team from home!

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials Stallion Parade

Headleys Deluxe and Giovanni Ugolotti had a great time at the Competition Stallions and British Breeding Stallion Parade at Burghley Horse Trials this week. Ralph obviously thought he was here for the big event, but had a ball showing himself off to the crowd!

Burghley has been an exciting week for Duke of Hearts offspring. Daytona Beach and Cornelia Dorr, made her 5* debut with an outstanding double clear to finish 10th. At the other end of the eventing spectrum, Nicola Wilson's 5 year old Jack of Clubs out of 5* British stalwart Annie Clover, was crowned BYEH champion. Headleys Deluxe made us incredibly proud demonstrating his abilities in the stallion parade and next week Giovanni Ugolotti and the elegant Duke of Champions head to Pratoni for the 2022 Eventing World Championships, representing Italy.
It has been fantastic to see Duke of Hearts offspring competing so consistently across all levels of the sport. Hopefully an exciting predictor for the future!
Burghley Horse Trials Stallion Parade 2022

We are very excited to have been invited by Competition Stallions and British Breeding to showcase Headleys Deluxe at the Land Rover Burghley Stallion Parade.
Please come and meet Headleys Deluxe and Giovanni Ugolotti after the stallion parade in the warm up arena by Ring 2. The stallion parade will take place at 12:45 pm in Ring 2 between the BYEH classes on Friday 2nd September 2022.
A top 3 placing for at Wellington International Horse Trials CCI-S 3*!

Unbelievably proud of 7 year old stallion Headleys Deluxe. He was firing on all cylinders to pull off the most incredible fast double clear, in a very tight time, to climb the leaderboard to finish on his dressage score for 3rd place in the CCI-S 3*! We are incredibly proud of Gio and Ralph for delivering such a fantastic result over such a challenging course, particularly with it being Ralph's first attempt at the level.
Ralph has now ticked all the boxes and qualified for the FEI WBFSH Eventing World Breeding Championship for 7 Year Old Young Horses at CCI-L 3* level in Le Lion D'Angers in France in October. This is the second consecutive year that Ralph has qualified and been selected to compete at the Young Horse World Championships. A phenomenal achievement for any horse, but remarkably rare for a stallion and a true testament to Headleys Deluxe's outstanding temperament.
Huge congratulations to our friend's Tissy and Ebe Seivwright and the beautiful Kimbal for also qualifying with Giovanni. A fantastic achievement for the whole team at Cranford Stud Eventing and the impeccable care our horses receive in their management and training.
A new chapter with Headleys Deluxe's first foal!

This week we welcomed into the world a beautiful bay filly foal by Headleys Deluxe out of our mare Pro. She is a stunning model with strong conformation and a combination of top Thoroughbred, jumping and dressage bloodlines and over 60% thoroughbred blood. Her breeding has been carefully considered for a career as an event horse.
We believe that an eventing stallion has to be tough and brave to make it in the sport- which many are not! So we have waited until Ralph has proven himself in the sport.
Hopefully, she is the start of an exciting new chapter at Micklehome Stud!
A win at Farley Hall Horse Trials
24th June 2022
On just his second run at the level Ralph and Gio delivered a beautiful double clear and the fastest cross country round of the day to win the Intermediate at Farley Hall on their dressage of 29!
Ralph seems to be loving the challenge of stepping up. Hopefully a good indicator for the future!
Little Downham Horse Trials

Headleys Deluxe stepped up in style with a convincing first run at intermediate level!
Ralph and Gio had a super spin round a big and technical cross country course adding just a pole to their dressage score for a top 10 finish!

Another super run for Headleys Deluxe in his final Novice run before stepping up to Intermediate level on his next run.
Ralph delivered a personal best dressage of 21.8 and another fast double clear to finish on his dressage score for 4th place in a very hot section!

FEI WBFSH Eventing World Championship for Young Horses

What a fabulous week in France at the six-year-old World Championships!
Headley’s Deluxe stepped up to the plate in style, starting with a 33.6 dressage score. He then gave Gio a fabulous cross country round, over a spooky track, coming home clear inside the time. A single pole down on the final day over an influential showjumping course left the pair in 16th place. Very exciting for the future!
Now it is time for a well deserved holiday in the field!
Osberton International Horse Trials and Young Horse Championships

Headleys Deluxe's penultimate event of the season did not disappoint. Competing against the best 6 year old event horse's in the UK, Ralph delivered a strong performance, just adding a pole to his dressage score after a fast cross country round.
This has been an excellent prep run ahead of his trip to France in a few weeks where Headleys Deluxe has been selected to represent Italy under Giovanni Ugolotti at the 6 year old FEI WBFSH Eventing World Championship for Young Horses. We are so proud of Ralph, Gio and the entire team who have helped us get this far!
Cornbury House International Horse Trials
9th September 2021
Headleys Deluxe enjoyed a month's holiday in the field after the busy first half of his season. He obviously came back in to work feeling very well as he jumped another foot perfect double clear in the CCI2*-S class!
Ralph looked amazing in all phases and very excitingly he has qualified for the FEI WBFSH Eventing World Championship for Young Horses in the 6 year olds! Here's hoping he gets a golden ticket from the selectors.
Hambro Sport Horses Burgham International Horse Trials
3rd August 2021
After a trek up north for a wet and wild week at Burgham, Headleys Deluxe had his first stay away show while contesting the CCI2*-S. Ralph delivered a good test for 32.2 in the dressage followed by a super showjumping round, demonstrating his amazing technique and power, before having a steady and educational run around a challenging 2* cross country track.
It was fantastic to see Ralph step up to the challenge and look forward to seeing how he progresses throughout the rest of the season.
Dauntsey Horse Trials

On a blisteringly hot day, Headleys deluxe was on fire in the Novice at Dauntsey! He lead his section on a 23.5 dressage! Due to the heat and hard ground he then delivered a very steady double clear, but even with 10.4 time penalties cross country it was still good enough to finish in 3rd place!
We were also thrilled to see all 4 of team Cranford Stud's horses jump double clears on sub 25 dressage scores.
Next week Headleys deluxe heads to Burgham International Horse Trials to contest his first CCI2*-S.
Keysoe International Horse Trials

Headleys Deluxe had a bold run around the Novice at Keysoe. It was fantastic experience to be able to show jump in the international arena, with a fully dressed course.
Alnwick Ford International Horse Trials

A good couple of days for the Ulano M brothers and Sophie Brown Eventing at Alnwick Ford! Sarchie (Ulano M x Animo x Rossini) delivered another double clear in the CCI3*-S, whilst little brother SBE Navigo (Ulano M x Pro-Set x Nepal) stepped up to the plate with a top 10 finish in his first Intermediate, which ran around the entire CCI3*-S track- a great indicator for his future potential!
Very exciting for the future and especially rewarding for Sophie as she has owned and produced both boys from foals!
Nunney International Horse Trials

Headleys Deluxe delivered another double clear, this time at Nunney International Horse Trials.
It was also fantastic to see the two other Duke of Hearts xx horses, Headleys Decoy with Giovanni Ugolotti and Duke Legacy with William Fox-Pitt also jump super double clears in very wet conditions!
Advanced level debut at Little Downham

A superb debut for Sophie Brown and Ulano M son Sarchie (Ulano M x Animo x Rossini), who stepped up to Advanced level at Little Downham International Horse Trials with a class double clear!
This horse is as brave as a lion and one to watch for the future!
Final foal of 2021- Mickleholme Epsilon

After yesterday's excitement with Headleys Deluxe, our wonderful broodmare Cece (Chico's Boy x Heraldik xx x Absinth) delivered a beautiful strong filly who we have named Tess or Mickleholme Epsilon.
She is by record breaking eventing stallion Upsilon (Canturo x Fusain Du Defey X x Quatar de Plape X).

The Ulano M brothers and Sophie Brown Eventing had a successful week at Houghton, with Sarchie (Ulano M x Animo x Rossini) jumping a superb double clear in the CCI3*-L and SBE Navigo (Ulano M x Pro-Set x Nepal) delivering a faultless round across the country after a good dressage performance in the CCI2*-L.

Not to be left behind, elite broodmare Promo (Pro-Set x Nepal x Ivotino xx) delivered a stunning Diarado colt (Diamant de Semilly x Corrado I x Contender). 'Arthur' is a spectacular model and hopefully will folow in his siblings footsteps. We are very excited for his future!

After a few sleepless nights of foal watch, we are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of a tall colt foal, called Rupert or Mickleholme Vamonos.
He is out of experienced mother Dolce Vita (Duke of Hearts xx x Cassini II x Landor S) who is half sister to Headleys Deluxe, by show jumping stallion Van Gogh (Numero Uno x Bernstein x Burggraaf). He has plenty of thoroughbred blood combined with super jumping lines, strong conformation and a kind temperament. Here's hoping for an exciting future!
Stepping up to Novice at Moreton Morrell

Virtual Stallion Event 2021

Another successful week for the Ulano M brothers' Sarchie (Ulano M x Animo x Rossini) and SBE Navigo (Ulano M x Pro-Set x Nepal), at Thoresby International Horse Trials with their owner and rider Sophie Brown Eventing.
SBE Navigo stepped up to his first long format international in style in the CCI2*-L and Sarchie had an educational run in the CCI3*-L.
SBE Navigo is full brother to Mickleholme Plot Twist and Mickleholme Boss Boy (also owned by Sophie). Hopefully his siblings will follow in his footsteps!
Kelsall Hill Horse Trials

Great to hear that Ulano M brothers' Sarchie (Ulano M x Animo x Rossini) and SBE Navigo (Ulano M x Pro-Set x Nepal), had a great day out at Kelsall Hill with their owner and rider Sophie Brown Eventing.
SBE Navigo had a win in a competitive BE Novice class, and Sarchie had a steady runin the intermediate.
SBE Navigo is full brother to Mickleholme Plot Twist and Mickleholme Boss Boy (also owned by Sophie). Hopefully his siblings will follow in his footsteps!

A final run for the 2020 season with Headleys Deluxe delivering another fast doubler clear and finishing on his dressage score for a 9th place finish in the BE 100.
Headleys Deluxe will now head home for a holiday before getting ready for stepping up to novice next season.

After the delayed start to the season thanks to Covid-19, 5 year old stallion finally made it to an event. Headleys Deluxe jumped a super double clear finishing on his dressage score to give Gio a great ride in the BE 100.
It is so lovely to see this young stallion happy in his job and growing in confidence with every ride.
Another new arrival- Mickleholme Callista

Our long awaited filly arrived in the early hours of this morning. Experienced mother Cece (Chico's Boy x Heraldik xx x Absinth) was overjoyed to meet her filly by record breaking eventing stallion Upsilon (Canturo x Fusain du Defey X x Quatar De Plape X).
Cece herself competed to a high level within the sport, and Upsilon has not only been a phenomenal talent within the sport, but producer of sales toppers and young horse class winners. Recently producing all three horses on the podium at the French 4 year old young horse championship!
A new arrival- Mickleholme Damiro

After a lengthy period of foal watch our wonderful mare Dolce Vita (Duke of Hearts xx x Cassini II x Landor S) delivered a beautiful, strong colt by prolific eventing stallion Ramiro B (Calvani x Wendekreis x Saygon).
Ramiro B has sired multiple successful event horses competing internationally, most notably Cooley Master Class- 2 time Kentucky Three Day Event 5* winner and Maryland 5* runner up, partnered by Oliver Townend.
Mickleholme Boss Boy sold to 5* rider

A sad day as we waved 3 year old colt, Louis (Mickleholme Boss Boy) off to his new home. Louis has always been a huge character and a firm favourite. However, we are so happy to see him go to join Mickleholme Diavita with a British based 5* rider who also owns a full brother to Louis, who is competing at 3* level.
Louis is by our stallion Ulano M (Tolano van't Riethof (Chin Chin) x Atlantic VDL x Vesins xx) out of our elite broodmare Promo (Pro-Set x Nepal x Ivotino xx).
We wish Louis' new owners the best of luck in the future!
Mickleholme Diavita sold to 5* rider

A day of mixed emotions as 2 year old colt Mickleholme Diavita (Jack) has been waved off to his new home with a British 5* rider.
Jack is by Diarado (Diamant de Semilly x Corrado I x Contender) out of Dolce Vita (Duke of Hearts xx x Cassini II x Landor S) a half sister to Headleys Deluxe.
Jack has been an absolute pleasure from day one and we wish him the best of luck in the future!
Burghley Young Event Horse Finals
6th September 2019
Headleys Deluxe contested the 4 year old Burghley Young Event Horse Final at Burghley Horse Trials. Although not in the ribbons, we have been blown away by this young stallions attitude and bravery at the event.
Headleys Deluxe will now head to Stallion AI Services to freeze semen ahead of next season, before having a well deserved holiday.

Headleys Deluxe contested the 4 year old Burghley Young Event Horse Qualifier in preparation for the finals next month. Ralph behaved impeccably in some very strong company, finishing in 7th place.

A brilliant day out with Cranford Stud Eventing! Headleys Deluxe came along for his first trip away from home, entering the 4 year old Burghley Young Event Horse Qualifier. Leading the class until the very last horse, finishing in 2nd place and directly qualifying for the finals at Burghley Horse Trials!
Ralph received excellent comments from the judges, with 8 out of 8 for Quality and 10 out of 10 for Conformation!
Headleys Deluxe licenses with the Anglo European Studbook

We are very happy to announce that our rising 4 year old Holstein stallion, Headleys Deluxe, has licensed with the AES. Headleys Deluxe will now focus on starting his eventing career under Cranford Stud Eventing's Giovanni Ugolotti.
